Today is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day – to honor a courageous man for his commitment to the pursuit of equality and social justice. It’s because of his service and dedication, many others were also inspired to help clear the path for all the wonderful freedoms and privileges we enjoy.
Many of which we’ve come to take for granted. It’s easy to forget with time, the long held beliefs, rules and laws that were in place prior to MLK standing up for social justice and the equality of all men, women and children, no matter their race or color of their skin.
So much has changed over the last 50+ years since he left his indelible mark on the world. Luckily his good work, deeds and actions have lived on in the lives of millions.
On this day of remembrance, I urge you to pause and give thanks to all those who have given their heart, soul and even their lives to further expand what’s possible for every person – to reach their full potential as a human being and live a joyful life.
By remembering, perhaps we can greater appreciate the rights we all have, which were achieved through the blood, sweat and tears of so many.
